Warwick is a nice little English village and for the past quarter-century it has been the home of the Warwick Folk Festival each summer. The village has a very old castle which is open to the public (well, for a fee) but due to an unexpected day of bad weather I didn't get a chance to see it during my first visit (2005) but I did during my second (2006). There are also lots of good pubs and a few side streets of various shops. |
| | 2005 Warwick Folk Festival The music festival is the big summer draw. There were two days of various workshops in areas such as singing, dancing, different types of fiddle styles, a few beginning guitar workshops, and lots more. No concertina in 2005, unfortunately, but I did end up getting a guitar from one of the music vendor stalls on site! Unfortunately there was a lot of rain, which started seeping through the tent by Sunday morning, forcing us to pack up early and head home. |
2006 Warwick folk festival We went to the Warwick Folk Festival again this year, and they were focusing on Anglo concertina this year! I wonder if they read this site. More rain again this year, turning the grounds into a brief marsh on Saturday, but it dried up again quite quickly and by Sunday afternoon there were no signs that there'd ever been any rainfall! | | | Warwick Folk Festival 2006, Saturday |
