Conakry Travel Guide: 43 reviews and 37 photos
I feel that with all the garbage, dust, disease and famine in this part of the world, the heat makes up for all that!!!
Just kidding! This place has been my home now for over a year and it has taken some getting used to. Especially since I was a true American before I arrived, but we are slowly chipping away at that too!!!
Still here for the 2nd year and keep enjoying the view from my balcony. I am in the process of moving from this place and can only hope for the sea to be as beauitful as some of the sunrises over the Mosque!!!
In driving down the roads, you need to keep your eyes open for the funniest stuff! This countryside is beautiful and the man who is driving the truck (if you can see) has decided to accent the scene with his feet!!! The accurate depiction of Guinean mentality... Keep on Smilin!!!
- Pros:People are very accomodating, food is very good (mostly), not expensive to live and discos rock!!!
- Cons:Expensive and difficult to leave when you want, dirty, smelly, and not alot to do for recreation!
- In a nutshell:A visit here would not allow one to fully appreciate the countries inner beauty!

great page! sounds like a real adventure.
I was very confused by the turtle photo, until the next tip when I saw it was really a whale. I've seen leatherback turtles, but nothing nearly as big as that. Anyway, nice page :)
Shawn - very special page - good tips- greetz from Belgium
it's is changed now, AF is cheaper then SN Brussels for the moment
Enjoyed reading your page, great info. BTW: noble job you're doing. GRTZ
...wow what an impressive move (and work!) away from "Sinatra's town" to Almasy's land (almost only since Guinea is not the Sahara Desert lol). Best, Maria
Hey great pages. reading your pages makes me wanna pack up here and seek a job in somewhere less... well, less ... here! Have a great one! And give us a yell if you hear of a job!! ;-)
No such thing as personal space?! after two years teaching in Sudan, I know that feeling!! Looks an intereting place, although hope that things have calmed down since you wrote the warning tip :@P
wow i really learned a lot from your page here, seems a dangerous though exciting place these days, yet teaching also gives a special feeling when you see the children's smiles...
fascinated about your people watching ;-)))
