In the end of the Dukagjini area lies Peja (albanian: Peje, Turkish: Ipek, Serbian: Pec).
An importnant cultural centre
that connect 5 highways.A trainrail (oldest in Kosovo) also go to the capital, Prishtina.
Peja city that before the war had 180 000 inhabits, but people has left the city and the whole country.The first time people left Peja was 1992 when 500 000 ethnich albanian escaped from Kosovo.Kosovo that had 2,500 000 milion inhabits (90& albanian).
The seccond time was the war (1998-99) when first albanians left the city and returned, than stardet sebs to leave and they've never returned, like the albanians that leaved Kosovo 92 who now lives on Germany, Swede or Switzerland.
But now Peja is again a importnant city.You can say that it's the capital of Dukagjini.Dukagjini has 4 cities.Peja(the biggest),Gjakova,Decani and Klina.
But only Peja and Gjakova is real cities.And peja is the centre of all this city and villages around Peja area.Burimi is a small town counted in to the Peja area.
Peja had PE as the city nickname in the ex Yugoslavian car tables.And the telephone nr in Peja starts with 039.In all Dukagjini they use Peja's district nr.
Before also Gjakova used it ut now they've got their own.It's like Peja's, but it has a nr more (smaller city).
