"Flip-flop of time zones..." Fuzhou by tsns011

spent two weeks between Fuzhou and Nanping...attended a traditional Chinese wedding for the sister of a friend...a fun train trip to Nanping...a lot of great hiking and sightseeing...not a Westerner to be seen for the entire two weeks...I suppose there is a lot to be considered with this 'sleeping dragon' that is definitely awakening...a lot of opportunity, but beware...the Western culture is naive when it comes to the Chinese mentality...do not confuse politeness with weakness...the people are hard working, a lot of attention is devoted to producing a very educated population...occassionally, you can see the pervassiveness of the Chinese Communist Party, but for the most part, the country is assimilating the world economy...am going to visit again within a few months...was there when the official word from China was that a flu epidemic was sweeping China...six weeks after my return to the US, it was announced that there was a SARS epidemic...

• Pros:Great food, economical accomodations, good weather
• Cons:watch your pockets, be careful of talking to forward women
