What?! No beach or coastal pictures on a Barbados home page? Nope, it didn't quite work out that way. I spent a week in Barbados in May 2005. In that time I went to a cricket match, swam at the beach, ate plenty of fine food and drank an awful lot of Banks Beer. That's it in a nutshell anyway.
During my time in Barbados, I was based in Worthing, which is on the south coast about 30 minutes from the airport. It was a nice little spot with everything you'd need and close enough to the city in case anything needed to be done. It became a familiar neighbourhood fairly quickly.
I did actually get to go in the water, but not for the first four days. I was busy with all kinds of things ut I think I can be forgiven ;-) One thing I can say, the waters at Worthing Beach were bluer than any I have seen - like a swimming pool. Believe the hype!! |
| | Test Cricket in Barbados I managed to get myself to the cricket to watch West Indies take on Pakistan. There were ten of us at the game and it was a great atmosphere at the ground. I think I got a bit carried away with the merchandise purchases but oh well. if you had mentioned the word 'Barbados' to me when I was young, I would instantly think of cricket and all the big names playing for the West Indies. So to be there live to see it was something special. |
