Air Asia and other Udon Thani, Thailand Transportation Tips

Getting TO/AROUND: Gotta love this airline. I flew to Udon Thani from Bangkok and paid 1200 baht return including taxes. The best part was that I got there in an hour rather than half a day on the bus. The airline was very professional and the staff were friendly - on both counts different from my previous experiences with other budget carriers.

Obviously Air Asia has brought a lot of business to Udon Thani. There is a huge billboard o advertising them on the corner of Prajak and Tikattanon Rd in the center of town. I actually bought an Air Asia polo shirt on the plane (after I realised that I'd run out of clothes) and locals were giving me the thumbs up and saying "Air Asia". Maybe they thought I was a pilot. I certainly hope not because I had a beer in my hand during most of my stay.

Anyway, Air Asia are definitely worth considering if you're heading to the north-east.
