This was the last restaurant I visited in Vienna, and I wished it had been my first, as I'd have gone back again and again. This is the best vegetarian food I've eaten since moving to Germany, and some of the best I have ever eaten. It was truly fantastic, and good enough to satisfy even the most determined meat eaters. The price for a lunch special was also extremely reasonable, especially as the restaurant was only a stone's throw from the central Stefansdom.

This place is a must for anyone in the city, and it makes me hungry just writing about it.

This was probably the best Turkish food I've ever eaten, and having lived in Germany for years I've eaten a lot. The place is not exactly central, but despite this, and despite being huge, it was packed. The food is great, the prices are low, and the setting is fantastic, especially out in the garden on a warm evening.

They also do a take-away service from the cafe at the front, where the food is just as good.

If you have ever wanted to try authentic goulash, then this restaurant is a great place to start. It offers dozens of varieties of goulash, and little else. It's extremely well priced for central Vienna, and has a cozy pub feel to the place. I only rated it a 3 because my meal was pretty average, but my friends thought theirs was excellent. Don't bother visiting if you are a vegetarian, unless you love mushrooms, as there is only one non-meat goulash on offer.

If you are down near the Hofburg and in need of a good value snack, beer or coffee, then Cafe Day may be just the place for you. It has a cheap looking sign made it look like a back street working class English cafe, but inside it had pleasant minimalist decor. The coffee was fine, the service very good, and the "coffee day toast" consisting of ordinary sliced white loaf with various toppings and a small side serving of potato wedges for 5 euros filled a hole.

I came back here later in the evening without having had time to eat anything all day, and despite the fact that they'd stopped serving food, the Indian owners cooked me up a wonderful curry, with a fruit side dish, for just 8 euros. Washed down with a couple of beers it made for a pleasant end to the day.

If you are only going to visit one of Vienna's famous coffee houses, make it this one. It's a glorious cafe, with a grand interior of high ceilings and long and illustrious history. Looking around at its exhorbitant fittings, you'd be hard pressed to believe that this was one of the favourite hang outs of the father of the world's greatest Communist state, Vladimir Lenin himself.

The food is excellent, the ambiance perfect, and the prices are not unaffordable, although on the expensive side even for Vienna. The place gets very busy around lunchtime, so get their early or call to book a seat. I ended up sharing my table with some young travellers who were hovering about waiting for a table to clear, and I felt guilty hogging one all to myself.

Even if you haven't got a lot of cash, you can at least afford a coffee, and maybe one of their excellent pancakes.

This hip, cheap cafe is very popular, especially with young people. It's not surprising either, given it's fantastic location in the Museum Quarter, great value, tasty food and the softly lit, cozy, comfortable, high arched eating area. The service is also quick, English speaking and very friendly. On warm days and evenings you can also sit outside in the Museum Quarter itself, which is great for people watching. They also have lots of vegetarian options.
