Traffic Traffic Review

While it isn't a problem around Konigstrasse, where pedestrians are so numerous they get right of way whether they are entitled to it or not, much of the rest of Stuttgart is as traffic friendly as a car city can be. Thankfully the excellent public transport system shields you from most of the traffic, but the rest of the time you will find yourself second best to the car. Just be aware that it is a little more difficult to walk from one part of the city to another than some other places, and take the subway or tram if the pace gets too slow.

Relaxed

While you will need to be wary, like in any big city, Stuttgart presents no particular problems, and for the most part I felt very safe and relaxed walking around the streets on my own, even at night. In fact I felt so safe, I occasionally had to pull myself up for being too lax and not keeping my wits about me. People of all kinds seemed to be happily milling about all over the city centre at all hours of the day, without looking too concerned about their safety, and after a few hours I felt exactly the same. There was a slight homelessness problem, but there was no aggressive begging.
