A place to really slowdown

by cleocat - last update: Nov 1, 2004

My kids in a restaurant in Grand Baie
Most is said on my homepage.
When I started buidling these pages I was still a bit disorientated.
But even though i don't stay in Mauritius I would not mind staying there.
Another place I will always go back to.

They are friendly, I always felt safe and I love the beaches and the water.
Casino Port Louis

The casino in Port Louis has an interesting look from the outside. I found Port Louis otherwise too commercialised. Reminded me too much of Johannesburg.

One day in Port Louis was enough for me.
Hubby's lunch

Low budget meals

Restaurants in Mauritius are expensive. Doesn't mean you can't have a good meal. We don't stay in hotels in Mauritius. The apartments work out much cheaper and are very nice. We loved the baguettes. It is cheap and taste different to the bread we are use to. More filling as well. Roti's from street vendors are also tasty and cheap. We stayed with the veggie ones. Never know what meat they may use. We ate at the kids beloved Spur once but paid triple to what we pay in SA for less food. The other time was at the Restaurant in Grand Baie. The prices were crazy and the food so-so. I'll stay with the baguettes and roti's and a bit of jungle juice.

Pros:"If you don't stay in the hotels and don't eat in the Restaurants it can be a cheap holiday"
Cons:"If you are an impatient person the laidback Mauritians are going to irritate you. Otherwise no con's"
In A Nutshell:"You can just sit on your balcony and look at the sea for an entire week without getting bored"

The Beach Bungalow is just marvelous. What beautiful beaches here. I had not heard about Mauritius before so was delighted to learn about such a lovely spot.
