Vancouver - Home Sweet Home

by ct-bound - last update: Mar 1, 2005

Life in Vancouver

I've lived in and around Vancouver my whole life, and can tell you plenty about it -good areas, not so good areas, great restaurants, nightlife, nature walks... we've got it all. Best time to visit is June-September, but bring an umbrella any time.

If you have any specific questions, like where to find something, or how much you'd expect to pay for something here, or anything at all, send me an email! I won't be here much longer though - I just accepted a job in Washington, DC (actually Bethesda, MD but close enough!), and will be moving there come this May (2005)!! Exciting but scary all at the same time ;)

Cheers, and enjoy 'my' city and all it has to offer!
Map of Canada

Canada's We(s)t coast

Located in the far southwest corner of Canada, Vancouver has the best year-round weather in the country. Highs of 25-30 degrees (C) in summer (June-Sept), Lows that hover around zero in winter (Dec-Feb), and the rest right in between.

The oft-referred to 'We(s)t Coast' due to frequent rain showers through most of the year (except July-Sept, usually quite dry), we have a fantastically green landscape.

The sea is a bit too cold for me to swim in (but people do!), but kayaking, sailing and windsurfing are popular!

With three mountains (and the ski slopes) within a half-hour drive from downtown, and running rivers, lakes and waterfalls located equally nearby, there is LOTS to do anytime, winter or summer!

Pros:"Diverse culture, friendly, safe, on the coast, mild winters & beautiful summers"
Cons:"It rains from october until may, nonstop"
In A Nutshell:"Fabulous international cuisine and friendly folks"
