"Maui-You can find isolation in paradise!" Maui by kimod74

The west end of Maui reminded me a lot of Ireland. Green, rolling fields and sharp, steep cliffs along the ocean (although I have to say the cliffs of Ireland are of a much grander/larger scale) but Maui reminded me a lot of Ireland in many senses (except Maui is warmer!) There are many trails you can hike and find yourself all by yourself, no other tourists around. Sometimes we would wonder to ourselves "Why is there noone else on this beautiful trail that winds along the ocean?" We found you can find peace and solitude in paradise.

Blowhole

Maui has many interesting aspects to it, including all the rock which is actually dried lava that flowed towards the ocean at one point and time. The dried lava creates numerous tidepools, and blowholes like the one in this picture.

So many different plant species. Everything is so lush and green. It is absolutely beautiful!

• Pros:Solitude, and lots and lots and lots of beaches!
• Cons:Traffic during rush hour can be bad & it is very very busy on the weekends everywhere you go. All the locals are off of work, plus all the tourists makes for one busy island!
• In a nutshell:A place to go if you want to find solitude & be alone on a beach. But also you can find great nightlife & crowds in places like Lahaina and Kaapalini.
