I was born in the town of Petaling Jaya ("PJ"), on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
Back in the 70's I still remember my parent's bungalow in SS2 being just a few roads away from rubber trees and jungle.
After 30 years and living in various parts of Malaysia and overseas, that same house is in a middle of suburbia, the nearest bit of greenery being at least 5 km away.
History tends to repeat itself as I was fortunate to buy a little house, just 500m from a rubber estate in a fast growing part of PJ called Kota Damansara.....but I wonder, how long will our great views, fresh air and trees last?... |
