My partner and I have just arrived back from our first visit to Dubrovnik, a city I have been wanting to visit for several years. After such a buildup, there was some concern that it would fail to live up to my expectations. However, it surpassed them. None of the pictures I had seen did justice to the city - nor do I think any pictures could. And my partner, who is often indifferent to his surroundings, loved it as well. The people were friendly and hospitable, and the whole atmosphere was really special. We aren't particularly sand-and-sea people and Dubrovnik offered us the perfect way of relaxing in the sun.
