Venice is an addiction!

Gondola in Venice

My favorite place in the world!

I am absolutely in love with Venice to the point of obsession. Why the infatuation? I'm not completely sure but it has an affect on me. It may be its history , its culture, its people or its uniqueness in the world. There is no other city like Venice. It will constantly surprise and amaze you every time you turn a corner. If you are a fan of the Renaissance, art, history, architecture and/or religion, Venezia will deliver. She will exhaust you with everything she has to offer. You can not see everything in a day or two or maybe even in a week. Which is why people are compelled to return time and time again.
5 scoops of Gelati

Things to do in Venice

1. Go to St. Mark's Piazza...feed the pigeons...see the Basilica...go to the Doge's Palace

2. Go for a Gondola ride...sounds like a cliche thing to do but a trip through the small canals is worth it. You will see a different side to Venice.

3. Eat Gelati...have it morning, noon and night. Forget the diet!

4. Visit the numerous churches to view amazing architecture and renaissance art.

5. Go to the Peggy Guggenheim and Accademie museums.

6. Visit the other islands in the lagoon...Murano, Burano, Torcello, etc...

Still on my to-do-list for Venice

1. Visit Cannareggio and the Jewish Quarter

2. Spend more time in Castello

3. See the Arsenale

4. Eat an expensive Venetian meal

5. Stay in a hotel or pensione on the Grand Canal

6. Visit Venice in the near future
