If you travel in or through Europe quite a bit, you've probably spent your fair share of time transiting through Frankfurt. And like me, many of you have probably never ventured into the city, although you probably know the airport and its restaurants and shops well by now!

On the way back to Budapest from a business trip to Samara, Russia; I decided to forego the wanderings around Frankfurt airport and venture out into the city. I had about four hours between flights, and found it plenty of time to take the train downtown, do a little window shopping, check out an art museum, grab a bite to eat for lunch, and get back to the airport in time to hang out in the airline lounge before boarding for the flight to Budapest.

So if you have a few hours to spend in Frankfurt on your next journey, take advantage and see a little bit of what the city has to offer. The journey is easy enough, the city well connected by public transport, and there are enough sights to see in a short time. And if you're too jet-lagged from your flight, it is pleasant enough walking along the River Main and getting some fresh air away from the endless corridors of the airport!
