| | It's everything you've ever imagined! Venice is as beautiful, as mysterious and as magical as you are expecting. It lives up to it's reputation in every way. Yes, there's a slight smell (but if you're used to the smell of salt water, it is lovely). Yes, it is like an 'old lady'. Venice is truly decaying, but that almost makes her exponentially more beautiful. St. Mark's Square is overrun with pigeons and tourists, but that makes it a magical place just to sit and watch people.
Venice was my introduction to Italy, so it is no wonder that I have fallen head over heels in love with this beautiful country. I can't wait to go back! |
| | This is one of many bridges in Venice. I loved the gondolier awaiting his next fare. I was watching him as I walked across this bridge. This was normal to him, his everyday life. I felt like I just fell into a different world and this was mundane to him. He probably dreams of California or Texas or something. Or maybe he knows exactly what he has...he is Venetian, after all... |
