Thailand - A World of Choice

by mikegr - last update: Aug 4, 2004

Sukhothi - Northern Thailand
I have been to Thailand twice already, for three weeks on each visit. And I would go back tomorrow!

Thailand is a wonderful country, because it appeals in so many different ways. It has vibrant and exciting cities, it had beautiful beaches, it has jungle, it has ruins.

What do you want to do on your holiday?

Chances are you can do it in Thailand (ok - so you might want to leave your skis at home!).

My Trips To Thailand

My first visit to Thailand was in October 2000

On that trip I visited :

Bangkok
Kanchanaburi
Krabi
Koh Samui
Koh Phangan
Hat Jao Mai - South Western Thailand 2002
On my second trip, in December 2002, I was a little more adventurous and visited:

Bangkok
Ayutthaya
Lopburi
Sukhothai
Chiang Mai
Phang Nga
Hat Jao Mai National Park
Khao Sok National Park

I enjoyed both of my trips to Thailand, although I enjoyed the second one a lot more.

My first visit to Thailand was my first visit to an Asian country ,and initially had me reeling with culture shock.

By the end of that trip I was quite decided that I would return, and the second visit was far more rewarding.

This tme I used public buses and trains rather than the overcrowded and overpriced tourist coaches. I also organised a flight to take me from Chiang Mai in the North, to Phukket in the South (although I didn't actually stay there) which allowed me to see more of this remarkably diverse country.

Thailand has a reputaton for being a beach and party destination - don't be fooloed - it has so much more to offer.

Pros:"It caters to so many tastes and interests"
Cons:"Very highly touristed, but still very easy to escape should you feel the need."
In A Nutshell:"The solid tourist infrastructure means it is very easy to get where you want to go and do what you want to do."
