This is a picture of the Cham ruins of Ayuthaya, the ancient capital. It was nice but not as good as My Son in Vietnam.
As a rule I don't do organised tours but relented on this occassion and it was a good reminder of why I don't. What a crock of *** it was. Firstly, you get lumbered with a tour guide that bears a strong resembelance in attitude to the Energizer bunny. The guy wouldn't stop. He'd run at a 100 miles per hour around the sights then linger for 30 mins in the shops waiting for you to buy crap souvenirs so he could get his kick back.
Then you get to listen to his ***ty commentary about the 280 varieties of rice for 3 and a half hours. Next time, i'll take a cab. |
| | A slightly different view. Used in Mortal Kombat: Annhilation as the set for the last battle.
This is a cool place. The sense of history is very strong. I liked it. |
| | The monks still look after the place though I guess it is more of a tourist thing now. |
