Wish I could stay but I have been to the hotel on a few occassions and OMG it is cool. I was expecting that kind of over the top crass, expensive but crap look. But it isn't. A few friends and I crashed the opening day and it rocked. Everything here is Versace. I did a story for the local TV about it and the place amazed me. Even the ashtrays, which get stolen all the time, are Versace. Knives, forks, napkins, soap...everything.
Unique Qualities: It is the only Versace hotel in the world. Can't get anymore unique than that I'm thinking.

Firstly, I have never stayed here but have inspected the rooms while looking for a nice place to send some friends for a night away for their honeymoon. The rooms are very small and not overly well appointed for the price. You are paying for the resort amenities but who wants to just stay in their resort 24/7. You can spend alot less money on the Gold Coast and get much better rooms.
Unique Qualities: All that being said, it does have the best pool. It is a living coral reef with tropical fish and you can go snorkelling. The only Benihana on the Gold Coast is here and it has a very nice seafood buffet.

Crown Towers is an odd place in that it has both permanent and hotel residents. The permanent residents all live above the 20th floor leaving the lower levels to the hotel guests. This gives it a lived in feel. It very rarely feels empty. But his doesn't mean the place lacks on facilities at all. There are restaurants and coffee shops littered throughout the complex. The entry atrium is impressive as it is 20 storeys high. Makes a very open feel. The rooms are spacious and try if you can to get one on the eastern side of the building to get the ocean view to best advantage.
Unique Qualities: Over winter they do good deals for locals to get them to stay the night and try it out.

It has been a while since I stayed here but it was always one of the most well appointed places in town. No expense was spared but the price was still reasonable. Indoor spas and pools, very nicely fitted out suites with the best of everything made tis one of the nicest places to stay. The other bonus is that it is situated nicely between Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. It is closer to Surfers but only a short cab ride to the casino or the hundreds of restaurants in Broadbeach.
Unique Qualities: The fot out is amazing. As John Hammond says in Jurassic Park "Best of everything, no expense spared."

The rooms are a little small but the golfing really makes up for it. You aren't going to spend alot of time in the room so I guess size isn't that important, in a room anyway. This hotel has some very good restaurants, particularly RPR's. Great Japanese place too. It has a very big convention centre attached so can be busy if there is a big conference.
Unique Qualities: This resort has two golf courses, east and west. West course is only 9 holes but east is a full championship 18 hole course, home to the ANZ Australian Women's masters, played in late February. It also has its own marina with direct access to the nerang River and a floating restaurant. You can use the resort's boat to travel into Main Beach along the river, about a 40 min ride thru the river front suburbs of the Gold Coast. The resort also has full gym, indoor heated pool and tennis courts. It hosts the Australian Women's Hardcourt Championships as a warm up to the Australian Open in January. All in all a very well appointed resort.

Mr.Sparkle Thu Jul 9, 2009 06:47 UTC hey goldcoaster, some great tips here. I will look at your page more closely over the next few days. I'll be coming your way in sept. maybe they'll be a VT or something. I'll try to set something up i think. | sunnytraveller Sun Sep 14, 2008 09:42 UTC The coffee shop and bar within the hotel are vacant ! Also, errors with check-in and booked services resulted with a rude response from the reception manager; no apology, all blame entirely to the booking agent. We won't be staying there again. | Travmad Mon Apr 30, 2007 12:42 UTC Good tips on the area! | pepples46 Fri Aug 11, 2006 08:03 UTC not a bad place to call home. thanx for the warning about the local lingo |
