Restaurant Name: Yummy House
Yummy House is a Hong Kong style establishment giving a wide variety of food styles from mainland China and its own unique style. While the general feel of the place is quite industrial, the tables and chairs are basic but well kept, the food is the true drawcard. From standard western Chinese meals thru to traditional Asian food, the menu is a delight for the tastebuds.
Favorite Dish: I really like the beef hot pot. Quality brisket beef is slow cooked with a tasty sauce and star anice to give a very Asian taste. It is a good dish if you want to try a real asian style dish.

Cav's Steakhouse: Steak to die for.

Restaurant Name: Cav's Steakhouse
For the absolute best chunk of dead cow in town, you have to go to Cav's. It is a Gold Coast icon but its reputation is fully deserved. You won't get a meal covered in sauce to disguise the fact their food is bad but you will get a perfect steak. Served with a homemade coleslaw and a baked potato with bacon sauce, it's all you need.
Favorite Dish: My favourite is the export quality rib eye, extra rare. There is nothing like hearing the steak moo when you put the fork in. It is expensive, about $26, but worth every penny.

Joey's Pizza and Ribs: Mambo Italiano!

Restaurant Name: Joey's Pizza and Ribs
What I love about this place, aside from the excellent food, is the fact it is a genuine family run restaurant. Josie and Phil, and their two sons and their girlfriends, do all the cooking and service duties. What this gives a real commitment to quality, it is their livelihood after all.
Favorite Dish: Personally, I'm a big sucker for a Joey's special pizza. I only ever order a small and can never finish it. The ribs are also fantastic. Try a veal scallopini for one of the best mushroom sauces going.

Restaurant Name: Sushi 4 You
In the style of your usual sushi train, this small local eatery does both sushi and Hong Kong style yum cha (dim sum). There are Japanese and Chinese chefs so the food is not compromised.
Favorite Dish: I'm a big sushi fan while my wife is more yum cha oriented. Her absolute fav is the pork and coriander dumplings while I'm a bit partial to the BBQ pork pastries!

Mr.Sparkle Thu Jul 9, 2009 06:47 UTC hey goldcoaster, some great tips here. I will look at your page more closely over the next few days. I'll be coming your way in sept. maybe they'll be a VT or something. I'll try to set something up i think. | sunnytraveller Sun Sep 14, 2008 09:42 UTC The coffee shop and bar within the hotel are vacant ! Also, errors with check-in and booked services resulted with a rude response from the reception manager; no apology, all blame entirely to the booking agent. We won't be staying there again. | Travmad Mon Apr 30, 2007 12:42 UTC Good tips on the area! | pepples46 Fri Aug 11, 2006 08:03 UTC not a bad place to call home. thanx for the warning about the local lingo |
