77 foot statue to Sam Houston - Huntsville

77 foot statue to Sam Houston

The World's Largest Statesman Statue Visitor's Center Review

According to the Huntsville Visitors Center, which in my opinion is a highly reputable source, this is the largest statue of a statesman in any country. This statue is built to scale, as Sam stood 6'6. It was created using 30 tons of concrete, by David Adickes.

This statue stands 77 feet tall, and is on a 10 foot granite base.

Sam Houston Museum - Huntsville

Sam Houston Museum

Sam Houston Memorial Museum Sam Houston Memorial Museum Review

Sam Houston was a great statesman, and a very loyal citizen of Texas. Starting as the governor of Tennessee, to defeating Santa Ana in the Battle of San Jacinto, Sam Houston's life was very intriguing.

From growing up in Tennessee, to reporting to Mexico, to starting the country known as Texas, this story is very interesting, and worth the time.

He called Huntsville home throughout most of his stay in Texas, so the information in here is quite extensive.

Sam Houston Statue Visitors Center - Huntsville

Sam Houston Statue Visitors Center

Sam Houston Statue Visitors Center Visitor's Center Review

If you are coming from Houston, you will be treated to the 77 foot statue about 6 miles prior to coming into the city of Huntsville. It is amazing to see such a large statue from so far away, and you are naturally attracted to stop in and see why such a large monument was erected.

In order to learn more about Sam and his life, you can go into the Sam Houston Statue Visitors Center, which has some memorabilia, and also houses some great information about what else can be seen in Huntsville.
