    • On our trip to the Nubian Village, we did not just stay in the area in which most of the tourists flocked to... three of us made it past the normal Nubian village to find an elementary school, and our guide was nice enough to explain to us that recently, Egypt adopted sweeping reforms in which public education was to be an entitlement for all children under 18. It was great to see SpongeBob Squarepants backpacks from little 6 yr olds enjoying their day at school.

    We were also reminded NOT to give these children money, because that would set a bad example for their learning if they knew they could make that much money panhandling.
