If you are coming to Melbourne to stay for a while, I would definitely recommend going to the Victoria Gardens for some of your larger purchase items. KMart, Ikea, Coles, and 60+ other smaller shops are all centrally located at Victoria Gardens in Richmond.

One other advantage to you as a consumer is the fact that Victoria Gardens is not getting the foot traffic it hoped for, so the deals are plentiful, and you pretty much get free parking if you spend $5 or more or spend less than an hour in the area!

If you are visiting Melbourne on a Sunday, and you are looking for a little of the local craft market, then your best bet is to head to Southbank, where most of the local artists that do not normally sell their wares at the Queen Victoria Market are to be found. From Funnel Cakes to large art pieces, and from magnets to postcards, this place has a little of everything. It is not so big that it is overwhelming, but it is also big enough to get all the kitsch you need to remember your trip to Melbourne.

The market is located under the Prince's Bridge, which connects Federation Square with Southbank, and is located right next to all of the nice Southbank restaurants so you can get something to eat.
