"Perfect Mixture of Caribbean and Central America" Isla de Roatán by ATXtraveler
Isla de Roatán Travel Guide: 306 reviews and 706 photos
During our cruise in December 2004, we made our second stop in Roatan in the Bay Islands of Honduras. We were excited to make this trip, since Honduras was a location that both Sarah and I had not been to, although we have heard alot about it. It lived up to expectations, and then some. I personally liked this island more than all the other Caribbean Islands I have visited so far.
During my many years in the US, I have visited many shelters, charity organizations, and other places to help the needy, but Child Sponsorship International really touched my heart. Brad and Debbie Warren are the directors of this orphanage in Roatan and they are really community leaders helping all of the children in Roatan. If you are visiting Roatan, please visit their site if you are interested in bringing additional supplies with you on your trip. As a friendly reminder, if you pack an extra suitcase full of donations... it magically gives you extra room for souvenirs on the way back!

- Pros:Wonderful views, snorkelling, etc.
- Cons:Only 36 miles long... and going to be too many cruise ships.

Another cool Central America destination. Thanks for sharing. Hope to visit one day.
Just got back from Honduras, but I didn't visit the Bay Islands. Looks like a beautiful place. Have fun in Alaska, by the way.
Please add details where to leave school and medical supplies that I bring.
It seames you had a wonderfull time here at the bay Islands. there is a lot more to see here, chech out my pages, and if you ever cme back make sure you visit the inland area too.. Have a great life.
I loved eating at Half Moon Bay'!! Wish I could have read your page before I went there on a cruise!!
Very helpful tips. Karen and I are planning a cruise which will stop in Roatan for our next anniversary. We'll try to find Andrew to be our guide. Great idea about the school and medical supplies.
Sounds a great place...I better get there quick before they start building 'roads'!;) Blu
Great school supplies tip. :) Dabs is right, time to visit Roatan before everyone else arrives from the ships! Happy travels. ;)
Roatan does indeed look like a nice little vacation spot! Must be something about this part of the world, because I found Costa Rica to be a 'cut above' as well.
Nice job! When the cruiselines find a place you might as well forget any genuine local colour.
