Words can not describe how terrible you feel knowing that the site of so many senseless deaths occurred in such a beautiful part of the world. If you were to walk into Dachau today, and you were told this facility was used to house the troops of the German army during war, most likely the first thing you would notice is the beautiful valley, the cool breeze and the beautiful sunshine.
Unfortunately for the world, this facility was much more than a Army training ground. It was the site of one of the most gruesome death sites in world history.
Dachau was one of many Jewish Concentration Camps in which hundreds of thousands of Jews lost their life during the period of Hitler's reign.
The sights and sounds of this portion of my trip made us all queasy, and you definitely leave the place with a different outlook on life.
It is not for the faint of heart, and out of respect for the Jewish community, I will only share a few of the pictures.

The stories of the concentration camps and incinerators are chilling. Hard to believe civilized humans would do that. Looks like it turned you to drinking. GRIN
Hi! I met Christine as well. And she's great. She loves to travel for sure! It's so crazy that I find her here on your website! Do you still keep in touch with her?
Heart stopping but interesting Glad you got a local guide makes things more interesting
thumbs up..the american way ^..^
The to do section is insightful but gloomy, o it was nice to read the beer tips afterwards, they made me smile :)
Good page - an eyeopener ! :-)
A page on a pretty gruesome subject, but well explained. I had not appreciated the difference between cremated and incinerated.
such a black mark in our very exsistance as the human race.....will we ever learn. Wonderful page Mark really!
such a sad place, but a "must see" for anyone interested in the holocaust. on the other hand, that is interesting that you can hire a translator for practically free. I'll remember that for next time I'm in Germany.
