Beach Haven is on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Exit 63 yeah, it's true, we Jersey People do refer to locations by exit! :)
all of LBI's beaches are very untouched and natural. Except for the jetties which were originally built to save the beaches and are now eroding them, sadly. There isn't a boardwalk, just sand dunes and gorgeous houses. Beach Haven is the town with the most bars and "Fantasy Island" which is the boardwalk games and rides area. Right next to there is Bay Village which is tons of stores and shopping.
You can rent a bike to bike the Island which is only a couple of miles long. There is the lighthouse down on the one end. The entire island is only a couple of blocks wide, one side is the beautiful ocean and the other is the bay.
Once on LBI, if you stay in beach haven, you don't really need a car to get around. The trick is, there isn't any public transportation onto the island, so you'll need a car to get there but once you arrive you can park the car and get walkin'.
I love it down out there!
- Pros:natural beaches, boardwalk scene if you want it, can pretty much walk everywhere if you're in beach haven.
- Cons:I'm always struck by the lack of diversity. It's very preppy white scene. Not that everyone's not welcome, but it just tends to attract the middle/upper middle white scene.
- In a nutshell:Gorgeous Beaches, sit and relax or hit the bars all night long. something for everyone.
