Christmas Markets in Cologne There are several Christmas markets throughout the city and they are all very, very crowded. You can just eat your way through the markets, from a Bratwurst to delicious Crepes, a glass of Glühwein, some dumplings with wine sauce, another glass of Glühwein... Then you can go and visit the wonderful chocolate museum and stock up in the museum shop there. After this a Kölsch or two, because you simply have to sit down now. You'll be surprised how fast the day will be over.
By the way, apart from delicious food stalls there are also very good hand-made items on the Christmas markets. I especially liked the tiny nativity scenes, carved in wood. |
| | The cathedral is of course the most important must-see sight of the city and children as well as adults are impressed by it.It's been quite a while since my last visit to Cologne and I was surprised how friendly the warden have become. Some children were asking them questions and the wardens really tried to answer. During my last visit they acted as if children should be seen but not heard. When you go to the cathedral, have a look at the details, like this lion head at one of the doors. |
