This year I went to Salzburg for the third time and it was the visit I enjoyed the most. When you're there for the first time, you of course want to see all the sights you have heard about, Mozart's birthplace, the fortress , the cathedral... From my two former visits to Salzburg I remembered the city to be extremly crowded and I was not looking forward to another visit. This year, being Mozart year, it was actually worse. Getreidegasse was so crowded, it was almost impossible to walk there. But once I had passed the tourists' highlights, I liked the city much better. My husband had prepared this trip and he acted as my personal tour guide, so I saw a different Salzburg than the professional tour guides showed me before. |

Nemorino Fri Sep 25, 2009 13:18 UTC Good that you enjoyed your third visit to Salzburg and went to the oldest bookshop (since 1594) and the oldest restaurant (since 803). Staying just across the border in Bayrisch Gmain sounds like a good option. | hunterV Tue Sep 2, 2008 14:49 UTC Yes, I've been there only once and would like to revisit that famous city in the future! ~ Take care ~ | Ewingjr98 Fri Oct 12, 2007 03:57 UTC Nice page on a town I have yet to visit! Thanks for visiting my Clarion pages... I made a lot of improvements since your visit as some of the tips were lacking. ~Joe | robertgaz Thu Jul 12, 2007 08:29 UTC I can hear Julie singing praises to the living hills :~) |
