We had four days in Florence and didn't manage to see half of what we would have liked to see. I was overwhelmed by the many museums, the art, the churches. Luckily we were there in March, off-season, so there were not too many long lines. The exceptions of course were the lines for David in the Accademia and the line for the Uffizi. The Accademia we had reserved and were able to cut the lines, my husband started queuing at the Uffizi, but had to give up.
Next time, it's a good reason to come back to this marvellous city.
The picture is from the singing galleries in the Duomo museum, the best one in my mind.

Reading and coffee go together for me. Thanks for the tip. Happy Trails, Randy
Lovely Florence page with wonderful photographs. The Duomo, Synagogue and Santa Croce certainly look amazing! Bring back fond memories of our trip to that city last year. ~ho & pang
My sister and I might go to the Duomo this September ... pictures look great! Norman :) P>S> I'll try to go to your favorite museum...little cupid-looking kids look great!
Interesting page, it looks like there's a lot to do. Florence (and Rome) have been on my wish list for a while. Regards, Clive
Interesting tips! I never knew why the baptistery was outside the church and not inside. Two and a half weeks from now I'll be on a train bound for Italy, but Milan this time, not Florence.
Nice page. Ciao!
Isn't it a special place! Sounds like you squeezed in a lot during your short stay.
Wonderful images and descriptions Christine. Florence is one of the Italian cities I'm yet to visit but I can see from your tips how much I would like it. The Baptistry looks amazing, the Tuscan tour excellent, and great tip to pre-book the Accademia :)
i really hope to get to florence on my next trip - such a great page - felt like i was there with you
Thanks Christine for bringing back memories from far 1996... I enjoyed Florence even more than Rome or any other Italian city. The Duomo is beyond any praise.Burial places of great Florentines in Santa Croce are very impressive. Great job for VT!
