Capital of a disturbed country

by chrisvandenbroucke - last update: Feb 10, 2004

City with a terrible history

Phnom Pneh, Killing Fields
Pol Pot is a name that can't be forgotten. Under his cruel dictatorship, he murdered thousands and thousands of opponents and makes sure up to now, the Khmer Roige is a name that sends shivers among the local people
Visit the Tuol Sleng Museum and the Killing Fields
Phnom Penh, the Royal Palace

City with a cultural history

PP is also the place where a traveler can find the
splendid Royal Palace
Phnom Penh, foodstalls

City with a lively streetlife

I was there the Waterfestival and I can assure you that I never have seen that many foodstalls in the world
It's no exaggeration when I say that, when you'd put them all next to each other, you'd probably have a 10 miles smell of food and drinks

You certainly get an eye opener visiting this city.. Tuol Sleng and the Killing fields were certainly creepy. Wow I missed Napoleons Pavillion. I loved the markets there.
