"Capital of the New Forest" Lyndhurst by carlrea

My visit to the New Forest was a last minute decision, and i am so glad that i went as it is such a beautiful place.

Lyndhurst has been the "Capital" of the Forest area since William the Conqueror established the area as a royal hunting ground in 1079, and has been visited by Kings and Queens throughout the centuries who came to stay at the Royal Manor.

I found Lyndhurst a charming little village but with an abundance of shops, restaurants and pubs. i really would recommend it as a starting point for the New Forest area
