The Amalfi coast is located in the Campania region of Italy, with Naples as it's capital and Pompei and the romantic island of Capri close by.
I stayed in Maiori, for a week, along the coast from the more famous towns Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento. These towns are all situated on what must be the scariest road in Europe, full of twists and turns situated high up on a cliff. The scenery of this coastline is spectacular with many small houses built into the rock face. Above is a photo of Positano, a moorish-style village.
We managed to visit the area by bus, and didn't need to hire a car. |
