Venice is a beautiful place and unlike anywhere else that you are likely to visit. It has about 150 canals, 3,000 alleys, 200 churches and 409 bridges - only three bridges actually cross the Grand Canal. The city is divided into six quarters : Canneregio, Castello, San Marco, Dorsoduro, San Polo and Santa Croce. We spent 4 days, 3 nights here, beginning of June 2004, and although this was not enough time to explore every bit of Venice, we found that we managed to get to areas well off the beaten path and get lost amongst the warren of tiny alley ways. |
