Getting TO/AROUND: The best way to reach Amantea is by train from Naples. EuroStar offers one train per day direct, and numerous other trains which stop in Paulo, where you then transfer.

All trains travel parallel with the seaside, so wonderful scenery is yours to behold. Beaches on your right, mountains on your left. Caution...whiplash is common in this area.

Bus service is also a choice, maybe takes a bit longer, but you will be treated to countless scenic villages along the way which will serve to wet your appetite for future visits.

Getting TO/AROUND: Getting around Amantea on foot is so easy. Very safe, scenic, however the heat of the afternoon could do even the fittest of us damage. Siestas are highly recommended from 2pm until about 5pm.

Taxi service is non-existant. Local service ceased to be economically viable a few years ago, and locals and tourists alike must depend upon a taxi from Cosenza. (takes about an hour, cost unknown).

When you arrive by rail in Amantea, local entrepreneurs meet each train and offer their services using their personal vehicles. Take advantage of their offers, because there is no alternative. Suggest you negotiate price prior to starting your quest.

Wonderful, inspirational, hilarious, heartwarming, and entertaining. A joy to read of your travel adventures, especially in Italy [I, too, enjoyed the southern Italians].
