Yerevan -- Capital of Armenia

by rjaparidze - last update: Dec 25, 2007

Yerevan is a capital of Armenia that is best to visit in early spring and autumn. The city became capital only in the XX century when the country lost most of its historical lands and the place was chosen as a main city...
Key places to visit are Republic Square, Museum of History (though the side of history portrayed there is disputed by Georgians), Genocide Museum (truly must go place), some newly built churches...

A special flavor is given to the city by the general culture of population to walk out in the streets (which is a bit different in my country) and numerous caffees sprawled all around the center...
Yerevan is the best place to use as a travel point to different locations such as Garni, Geghard, Echmiadzin, Hripsime and a number of other places.

Nice tips about Armenia! I was in Tbilisi in my childhood and remember very little. Hope I'll have a chance to see it again.
