There was potential. From River Rouge to Hamtramck. Even the street names sound distinguished: Jefferson, Lafayette, Woodward -- ah, lovely Woodward. But the city that grew up with the automobile industry was left behind when business moved away. The intervening years have been no kinder than 'the powers that be'. |
