My Travels

Funky houses by the beach

Santa Monica, CA

12/26-28/2003

Whirlwind, contest win and first flight ever! Me and my mom hopped on a Continental flight from Richmond to Houston, then from Houston to LAX. Got makeovers at Salon Vivace on Saturday and stayed at the gorgeous Radisson Huntley in Santa Monica. The palm trees and beach are beautiful, even in the winter! Hung out on the Third Street Promenade and hit some great sales, then went to the Farmers' Market on Saturday and sampled all the yummy local organic produce. Was exhausted by the time our Sunday afternoon flight left LAX, and the jet lag was a killer, especially for a first flying experience ever!

Absolutely Gorgeous!

Another contest win! My husband and I took off from BWI for Keflavik, Iceland, flying through the night and into the dawn (it was only a 5 hour flight!). The landscape was breathtaking and I felt comfortable and "at-home" right away, even though everyone was speaking Icelandic and I didn't know any at all. But all the people were so nice and helpful. We went to Kringlan mall to do some shopping, wandered around Reykjavik, and took a whole day to tour the Golden Circle and another day to head out to the Blue Lagoon. I would recommend a trip to Iceland for anyone! It is the most amazing place I've ever been.
