Hot men on the strip in Lahaina Okay, only one hot man!
Lahaina was a whaling town, now the only whale hunting being done is by the tourist. Whale cruises are BIG business in Maui, Lahaina being the biggest port for the tourist boats.
I was told that Lahaina means "Cruel Sun" in Hawaiian, as it is usually sunny and hot. |
| Sailing in Maui - mai tai style |
Lahaina Maui Sailboats - Tipsy Turvey "Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me.." That is the song that came to mind looking out toward Lanai'i from Front St. in Lahaina. If you notice, one boat is tipped over, that one would be mine if I tried to sail. UPDATED 2/7/05 A friend of mine that was in Lahaina this past November told me the story behind this tipped over sailboat. Seems that last Halloween, after a night of too many mai tai's, a tipsy partyier borrowed his friends boat and because he was seeing double, thought the streetlights were the stars, grounded it. Of course the owner wasn't happy and now the locals aren't either. But in typical Hawaiian laid-back style, as of January 2005, the boat has not been removed from the harbor as it continues to cause damage to the sea bed. "Bartender! Another round while we discuss this matter further." I think the tipped over boat adds additional charactor to the harbor. |
