Gaeta is a small town on the west coast of Italy about half way between Rome and Naples. Gaeta has a beautiful, big, sandy beach, and this is where Italians vacation in the summer, and the population probably triples in the vacation months -- the end of July though the beginning of September. Those are the months you definitely want to avoid this town. This is a beach town, and if you visit in June, you should avoid crowds, the umbrellas on the beach and high prices. Be warned, however, that Gaeta is a Navy town, so if you're female and go into certain bars or restaurants, you're going to get hit on by some really drunk 18 year old. |
