Rome in a day? Sure

by sissah - last update: Feb 16, 2004

Foutain in Piazza Navonna... I think.
They say you can't see Rome in a day, but in all reality... yes, you can. Don't get me wrong -- Rome is beautiful, and there are some great things to check out here, but you really can do it in a day, and you won't be missing too much. (This is, of course, calling Vatican City a seperate place, because you can easily lose yourself there for a day, too) A lot of Rome is really touristy -- the gladiators outside the colosseum are a prime example, and a lot of what you think you should see, you really should just bypass and head up north or to a lesser-known city.

Pros:"Pretty, historical and quick."
Cons:"Touristy and you've already seen it all in a book somewhere."

Very interesting and useful and I shall certainly stay away from the gladiators.
