When can I fly again?

by sissah - last update: Oct 12, 2004

Three weeks in India

Some boys at Prayas Children's Home in Delhi
I can't even put into words what India is like... and apparently I should since a lot of western tourists don't make it there. That really suprised me -- I had the impression that it was a place of intrigue and tourism, but during the three weeks I was there, I rarely saw tourists (with the exception of my time in Goa). It was strange, because it is the kind of place everyone should see. It's haunting, almost. There's this amazing beautiful culture, but you have to wash off the dirt and decay to see it.

Anyway, on the trip, I went to Delhi, Agra, Chennai, Visakhapatnum (probably spelled wrong -- I'll have to check it) or Vizag, if you will, Kolkata, Kharagpur, Mumbai and Goa. I'll try to get up some information on the different cities, but as I'm taking vacation for the next two weeks for my wedding and because I haven't taken a vacation in forever, it may be a while.

Cheers!

(the picture is of some children I met at Prayas Children's Home in Delhi, which takes care of 50,000 street children in three of India's states, saving them from abuse and exploitation)
