Utila has some great diving, and is especially a good place if you're learning. I got SCUBA certified there, and it was cheaper and MUCH more beautiful than if I had done it in some inland lake in the US. There are a lot of mosquitos and other biting bugs, so watch out.
Expect cheap prices and rustic accommidations.
- Pros:Sweet diving, cheap, no car needed, English speaking
- Cons:Bugs, and intermittent electricity

I hope the diving is still quite cheap, as I'm going there later this year.
Hola Sweettooth Can you tell me when you went to Utila? It's been, shall we say, upgraded, in the last few years. Although the airstrip is nothing to rave about, it's been moved inland and is a decent strip, and I think elec is 24 hours now, as of mid2003
