Belém is just a short tram ride away from Lisbon, and it is definitely worth visiting.
It's one of the biggest tourist destinations around Lisbon, but that's understandable because it is so beautiful.
Belém is associated with the Portuguese Age of Discovery - all the renowned explorers were from Portugal.
While here make sure to see:
Torre de Belém - the famous tower on the river
Mosteiro dos Jeronimos - the incredible Manueline style cathedral
Padrão dos Descobrimentos - the monument dedicated to Portuguese explorers
Rio Tejo - the river Tagus, you can't miss it
Café Pastéis de Belém - to eat some famous pastries
