Colombo - my personal nightmare

Shopping centers and malls: Colombo Shopping centers and malls Review

First off, let me say I just despise this place because it is incessantly huge and overwhelming (let me state that I am an atypical female and despise shopping in general)....but if you're looking for a good mall I'd recommend Colombo. It is the largest mall in Iberia. Used to be the largest in Europe, but times have changed.

Aside from more than 400 stores, there is an indoor/outdoor amusement park, a supermarket (called Continente), cinema, health club, and a variety of international restaurants.

You can probably find anything you're looking for here.

Open daily 10am to 12pm

What to buy: anything and everything

Address: Avenida Lusiada

Directions: Metro: Colegio Militar/Luz
Linha Azul (Blue line)
near Benfica Stadium

there is an entrance to the mall from the Metro station - how convenient

entrance to Armazéns do Chiado - Lisbon

Shopping centers and malls: Armazéns do Chiado Shopping centers and malls Review

The shopping mall Armazéns do Chiado is a good place for tourists to visit. Aside from its central location and proximity to Baixa-Chiado, it has a variety of shops and restaurants that will appeal to tourists of all countries.

The most noteable store here is FNAC, a huge music, books, and electronic store. Come here and peruse the lusophone and english book selection, or listen to a fado CD.

Eat a typical portuguese meal at one of the restaurants here, or opt for the easy way out with the everso notorious golden arches.

Browse the rest of the stores to find fashionable Portuguese shoes, clothing, and accessories.

There is also a large sporting goods store within the mall.

There was a fire that destroyed much of Chiado in 1988 and it started in the mall. Since then, much renovation has taken place to restore the neighborhood.

What to pay: average costs

hours:
open between 10:00-22:00
restaurants stay open till 23:00

Directions: walk up to Chiado from Rossio, will be at top of hill
or take Baixa-Chiado metro and exit at the top of the escalators in Chiado.

shop & eat in Baixa - Lisbon

shop & eat in Baixa

Baixa: stroll along the pedestrian streets of Baixa Good neighborhoods for shopping Review

There are various pedestrian-only thoroughfares in Baixa that have a variety of shops generally catering to selling a specific item. You can find shops that sell only shoes, watches, jewelry, etc. as well as many restaurants and cafes. Although most of them cater to tourists, you'll commonly find locals on their work breaks hanging out in the streets to have a coffee and a snack.

What to buy: anything

What to pay: average
