This is our National stadium, this is where most of our sporting events take place, as well as music concerts. Since hosting the spectacular Rugby World Cup in 1999, it seems that each month brings yet another memorable event; the FA Cup Final, the Carling Cup Final, the British Speedway Grand Prix, and many outstanding concerts with excellent performances from the following artists: The Manic Street Preachers, Tina Turner, Bon Jovi, Robbie Williams and The Stereophonics - the list just grows and grows They do a pretty good stadium tour which takes you behind the scences.

Right in the busy centre of Cardiff, Wales capital city, are the remains of this castle. The high perimeter wall was rebuilt directly onto the remains of the Roman fort which originally occupied this site and you can see the change in brickwork from the outside, as well as the more extensive remains inside and under ground level.

The harbour at Cardiff experiences one of the worlds greatest tidal ranges: up to 14m. This has meant that at low tide, it has been inaccessible for up to 14 hours a day. A barrage will eliminate the effect of the tide, which has acted as an inhibitor to development, releasing the potential of the capital city's greatest asset - its waterfront. The construction of the barrage is one of the largest engineering projects currently underway in Europe. Completed in 1999, it has created a 500 acre freshwater lake with 8 miles of waterfront and it is hoped it will stimulate the future development of the Bay as a tourist and leisure destination, as well as accelerating the inward investment potential of South Wales as a region.

Unlike most Welsh churches, Llandaff is not named after a saint, but rather the area in which it is located. The name translates as "Church on the River Taff." Situated on one of the oldest Christian sites in the British Isles, the cathedral was begun in the 12th century but rebuilt and modified over and over again throughout its history. During a bleak, terrible night in January, 1941, a huge German mine exploded, destroying much of the cathedral and it was not until the 1960's that restoration was completed.

Just outside Cardiff, on the western edge, lies St Fagan's Folk Museum. Here, as well as the galleries that you would expect in a museum, there are have been moved from threatened sites around Wales to be lovingly reconstructed on the huge parkland site. Best of all, entrance is now free! (Thanks to the Welsh Assembly)
