Arches National Park

There are over 2,000 arches ranging in size from a three-foot opening (the minimum to be considered an arch) to the largest one, Landscape Arch, which measures 306 feet from base to base. This park has the largest concentration of natural arches in the world!

One thing I noticed while I was here was the silence. I have never been anywhere so silent before. I can't imagine what this trip would have been like had there been throngs of people about. We were there in mid-may and there were no crowds anywhere!! On our longer hikes, we would see a handful of people at most.

This is truly a remarkable landscape and one of my most memorable trips!!

Moab

Moab is an excellent base for discovering Arches. Canyonlands is close, also. It's a small town, but has everything you need to be comfortable. Needless to say, they cater to the outdoor adventurer!!

Silence. Great that it was so silent when you were there. I wonder when some of those two thousand arches are going to start falling down. Some of them look like they are just about to.
