Paris cast its spell on us! We are already planning on going back next year......and we are going to take French classes in preparation. My 4 years of High School French was enough to get us by without offending anyone.....I am not close to being fluent.
Ethan loved this city for its architecture, history, and the fact that there is always somewhere to sit down and rest when you are walking around.
I am glad that Ethan is mature enough to appreciate places like Paris. Missing school to visit, he is able to report back on the history and significance of the city (otherwise he would not get credit for the work he missed in school). The grandeur left him awestruck and has talked about it ever since!
We only had three and a half days to explore, which meant that we weren't able to discover the nooks and crannies. We did, however, have enough time to see the usual Paris haunts. We compromised a lot........I wanted to go to the Louvre, but he would have lasted only an hour, so we saw the Musee D'Orsay instead. The line for the elevator to the top of Tour Eiffel was three hours long, so we waited for ten minutes and climbed the stairs to the first level. It was too short a trip to queue for hours on end!

Love this Paris cemetery tip ... I also made a Buenos Aires and Oslo cemetry tip...cemeteries are understated destinations...hehehe...Norman :)
Hi Jen. I am back from France. Paris was great and Provence was beautiful.
Hi, Was just wondering how long the walk is from Eiffel Tower to Notre Dame down the Seine? Thanks.
Congratulations on making all the right choices about what to do and not to do during your brief visit to Paris. Hope you can get back there again before long.
Just do ignore them...like everywhere, not a specifically parisian thinh :-) I do the same thing in New York too!
Even antipatique Parisienes can't spoil the magic of Paris ! And, 'no trip is complete without a visit to the local cemetery' - maybe i'll adopt this habit. [segap aidnI ym tisiv]
Paris is one of my dream holiday destination. Ciao!
Very nice page abour Paris. Greetings from Poland.
Jen, you should read Henry Miller’s description of St-Sulpice’s “fat belfries” in “Tropic of Cancer”. Excellent page w/ great tips! I see Paris has caught you in her snare – hope you get back quite soon. Postcard perfect B&W photos!
Fascinating comments on a magnificent city, Jen..loved your pics...you are right..pigeons do ruin your pics.
