Taverna Trilussa: Typical roman cuisine

  • Restaurant Name: Taverna Trilussa

This is one of the place you shouldn't miss if you really want to taste the typical roman dishes! Taverna Trilussa is in Trastevere, the heart of the traditional romanity. Despite the name of tavern, this is a very famous restaurant (maybe a little bit touristic), with delicious food awarded with several prizes! I'd suggest you to try pasta, of course, in particular the "rigatoni all'amatriciana" or "spaghetti alla carbonara". You'll tell me!

    La Montecarlo: Not only Pizza

  • Restaurant Name: La Montecarlo

The name may remand you to the beautiful place in Cote d'Azur in France, but the cuisine it's absolutely italian! If you don't mind how long you have to queue, this is the right spot to enjoy a good pizza in a nice roman atmosphere (the restaurant is very close to Navona Square).

Favorite Dish: Pizza of course, but "Montecarlo" it's super! Again, I'd suggest to order the famous "bucatini all'Amatriciana": they are one of the evidence of God on the Earth!

Lively, popular, reasonably priced and the pizzas are superb. The house wine is also good.
This restaurant pizzeria is in the heart of Trastevere quartier just behind Piazza Sonnino, very close to the Tevere River. Friendly atmosphere and staff very efficient!

Favorite Dish: Enjoy Pizza Margherita served on the typical metal dish. Also "bruschetta" is very good; it's the typical slice of bread dressed with salt oil and fresh tomato, all spiced with some garlic

This is an old, typical roman "Trattoria" , located in the heart of Testaccio Area. Here, in an atmosphere that still recalls the past "dolce vita" style years (with a lot of pictures of famous people of that time decorating the walls), you can enjoy all the main roman dishes, served by the local staff with a familiar courtesy.

Favorite Dish: Bucatini all'amatriciana (a kind of long pasta with tomato meat sauce and cheese), as the name of the restaurant means, are the best dishes. But also rigatoni with pajata (kind of short pasta in tomato sauce added with lamb intestine) are special.
Don't forget to ask for "puntarelle", a sort of vegetables dressed with vinagre and anchovies.

Pizzeria da Francesco: Typical roman pizza

This is a godd place where to try the typical thin roman pizza. The restaurant has also a decent pasta and a good selection of antipasto and vegetables. The best thing is its location, because it's in a wonderful zone of Rome near Piazza della Pace and Chiostro del Bramante. The atmosphere is really unformal and the staff is very friendly and fast to serve you.

Favorite Dish: Pizza, of course, in every version. Try also as a starter the "focaccia with ham", a good way to way for the following courses!

  • Restaurant Name: Antica Birreria Peroni

Since one hundred years Romans and tourists here have been meeting, eating, drinking and having fun all together! This place is not exactly a pub, because you can have a full dinner in a wide choise of local traditional specialities watered with premium quality beer!
The spot is always packed but don't worry, you just could wait for a while before sitting!

Favorite Dish: Try veal cutlets, prepared according to the Roman tradition and pork steak, even garnished of beans " all'uccellletto ".

  • Restaurant Name: Brasil Cafe'

This is one of the first brazilian restaurants in Rome; here you can find all the specialities from south America, the classic churrasco, the special fasola and other delis; besides, it offers excellent entertainment shows, with original brazilian dancers, musicians and artists. You can eat here at fixed price of 25 euro and you'll be served with 10 different kinds of meat and all you can eat from the cold and hot buffet. And after dinner, the music starts...

Favorite Dish: Of course I like churrasco, but also abacaxi (hot pineapple) is really special!

This pizzeria is very popular among people of the night, expecially for those who after theatre or cinema want to enjoy a good pizza or a great dish of bucatini pasta! You have to take into account to wait for a while before entering, but when you're finally seated the service is very fast even the manner of the staff is very unformal!

    Osteria Margutta: Feeling romantic!

  • Restaurant Name: Osteria Margutta

If you're looking for a nice roman restaurant in the center of town this is the right place. Osteria Margutta is a bit of a favourite with artists and well known people, in a typical atmosphere that, when you're inside, it's easy to understand the reason why this restaurant is so populated.

Favorite Dish: Try the handmade tortelloni with tomato and basil or the oreccchiette with sausage and broccoli.

Navona notte: Mussels in the heart of town

  • Restaurant Name: Navona notte

This restaurant is located just few steps from Piazza Navona, so normally crowds of tourists drop inside. In the same time, a lot of roman people like this place, cause the food is of good quality and the service is very quick. Also, comparing to the quality (and the quantity!) the price is not so high.
The dinner usually must start with mussels and focaccia (a kind of pizza without dressing), then pasta, pizza and many other kind of dishes, everything is good!
If you wish, you may settle for a scheduled menu and pay a fixed price.

Favorite Dish: Mussels and focaccia, of course. Last time I had "pasta alla gricia", with eggs, parmisan and black pepper. Very appetising!

Taverna Trilussa is just amazing. I agree...I loved the Ravioli Mimosa and the buffalomozzarella and everything else too. I went there three evenings in a row. love that place and will soon go back.
