If you're in Paris be weary of the pick pocket. Most pick pockets come out in the summer when crowds of people make it easy for them to hide themselves. Basically look out for young people that have their coats drapped over their fore arm on a blisteringly hot day. It might be obvious for some of us to think, why should this person be carrying their coat in such an obscure fashion on a bloody hot day, but others might not be so observant. Also on the metro if anyone drops anything, by all means look at it but don't pick it up, it's more than likely a decoy has dropped something in front of you, so when you pick it up, the pick pocket behind you delves into your bag. All you really need to do is make sure you have a good quality bag with zips/catches that are not easy to open, remember to close your bag after using it all the time, and either keep your handbag tucked in your armpit or wear an over the shoulder bag.
