My first trip to Salzburg was very short, but very full. What amazed me was how clean the air is and what a beautiful city it is, not only because of the architecture, but the flowers and neatness that was displayed everywhere. The people were friendly and talkative, and the food very good. Some say only a day is needed for Salzburg - and that may be true for a visit of the city only - but the communities that contribute to the Salzburg area cannot be missed, and should be visited while there.
I would recommend at least one day in Salzburg, and another day or two visiting communities nearby, such as St. Gilgen, Mondsee and Bertchesgaden.
As a lover of the movie, "The Sound of Music", my short visit to Salzburg was just as I envisioned it - and more. I learned so much about this wonderful city in my short stay, and I will return to take in more! |
